Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026.

Homeschoolio is a record-keeping app for homeschooling parents and guardians, operated by Handler Labs LLC ("we," "us"). You enter records about your own child. Children do not create accounts or use the app. We built it to keep your family's records private and in your hands. This policy explains what that means in practice.

The short version

  • Homeschoolio has no account and no login. Your records live on your device, and nothing leaves it.
  • We do not sell or share your data, and we never use it for advertising. There are no ad or tracking SDKs in the app.
  • Your records are yours. You can export them anytime, for free, and delete any record or all of your data right in the app.
  • Premium subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, and there is still no account.
  • Cloud sync is not yet available. If it launches, this policy will be updated first and you will be asked in the app before anything syncs.
  • Homeschoolio is intended for the United States.

Who uses Homeschoolio

The app is for parents and guardians who are at least 18 years old. You enter information about your own child as part of keeping your homeschool records. The child is the subject of those records, not a user of the app. There is no account to create. We talk more about this in Children's privacy below.

What we store, and where it lives

Homeschoolio stores the records you create: your students (a first name and grade level), subjects, daily logs, attendance, notes, photos of schoolwork, reading lists, courses, and the documents the app builds from them.

On your device. All of this stays on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Cloud sync (not yet available). Multi-device sync is not part of the app today. If we add it, your records would sync through your own iCloud account (Apple's servers, which you control in your iOS Settings). We will update this policy and tell you in the app before any sync is turned on.

Subscriptions. Homeschoolio Premium is a paid subscription processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and your billing details; we never see your card number or payment information. Your subscription status is checked on your device through Apple's StoreKit. We do not operate purchase servers, and no purchase history is sent to us.

How we use your records

We use your records only to run the app on your device: to log your day, keep your records, build compliance documents, and send the reminders you turn on. We do not profile you, run ads, or use your records for anything beyond providing the features you use.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or for anyone else's marketing. This applies to everyone, and especially to information about children. We run no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Service providers

Two companies are involved. Apple distributes the app and processes Premium subscriptions through the App Store. Cloudflare hosts this website. Because the app runs entirely on your device, neither one receives your records.

There is no third-party subscription service, analytics service, or advertising SDK in the app. Subscription status is read on your device through Apple's StoreKit, so no purchase data is sent to us or to anyone else. If we ever add cloud sync, it would use Apple iCloud and your own account, and we would update this policy and ask you in the app before turning it on.

Children's privacy

Homeschoolio is made for parents and guardians, not for children. It is not directed to children, and it is not in the App Store's Kids Category.

You, the adult, enter information about your own child. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13, because children do not use the app or create accounts. We also do not ask for a child's date of birth. Grade level is all we keep.

Because your records live only on your device and are not sent to us, we hold no child's information to delete. If you have a question about a child's information, contact us at [email protected].

How long we keep data, and how to delete it

Your records stay on your device until you delete them. We do not hold a copy on any server, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete on our end.

You are always in control. In the app you can delete a single record, remove a student, or delete all of your data at once (Settings → Your data → Delete all data). Deleting the app also removes everything. You can export everything first if you want to keep it.

Backups. You can save your records as a single backup file and restore it later or on a new device. A backup is created only when you choose, and it goes only where you send it (for example, your own iCloud Drive or the Files app). We never receive or hold a copy.

Security

Records on your device are protected by your device's own security. If we later add cloud sync, data would be encrypted in transit and stored in your own iCloud account. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your privacy rights

Because everything stays on your device and we collect nothing, you already hold and control your data directly. Where state privacy laws apply, they generally provide the rights to know what is collected, to access and correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We collect no personal information, we do not sell or share any data, and we do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right. Residents of California and of other states with privacy laws (for example, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Texas) can contact us at [email protected] with any privacy request, and we will respond within the time your state's law requires (in California, within 45 days).

Your choices

You can export your full records at any time from the app, for free, and save a full backup file wherever you choose. You can correct or delete individual records, delete all of your data in the app, and turn notifications on or off. We honor these choices for everyone, no matter where you live.

Taking back a permission. Anything you allow, you can withdraw. Turn any reminder off under Settings → Reminders in the app, or switch notifications off for Homeschoolio in the iOS Settings app. Homeschoolio never asks for access to your photo library: when you add a work sample you pick that one photo yourself, and only the photo you picked is copied into your records. Withdrawing a permission does not remove records you already saved, and you can delete those separately, either one at a time or all at once under Settings → Your data → Delete all data.

A note on FERPA

FERPA (20 U.S.C. §1232g) is a law about schools that receive federal funding. Homeschoolio is not a school and does not receive that funding, and an independent homeschooling family is not a school either. FERPA governs schools, not the records homeschooling families keep for themselves. If your child also takes part in a public school program, that school keeps its own records under its own rules.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and post the new version here. If the change is significant, we will do our best to tell you in the app.
