Privacy Policy

Homeschoolio is a record-keeping app for homeschooling parents and guardians. You are the account holder, and you enter records about your own child. Children do not create accounts or use the app. We built it to keep your family's records private and in your hands. This policy explains what that means in practice.

The short version

  • Your records live on your device by default. Nothing leaves your phone unless you turn on sync.
  • We do not sell or share your data, and we never use it for advertising. There are no ad or tracking SDKs in the app.
  • Your records are yours. You can export them anytime, for free, even after you cancel.
  • You can delete any record, a whole student, or your account and its data.
  • Homeschoolio is intended for the United States.

Who uses Homeschoolio

The app is for parents and guardians who are at least 18 years old. You enter information about your own child as part of keeping your homeschool records. The child is the subject of those records, not a user of the app. We talk more about this in Children's privacy below.

What we store, and where it lives

Homeschoolio stores the records you create: your students (a first name and grade level), subjects, daily logs, attendance, notes, photos of schoolwork, reading lists, courses, and the documents the app builds from them.

On your device. By default, all of this stays on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Optional cloud sync. If you choose to turn on sync, your records are sent to and stored with our infrastructure provider so they can sync across your devices. Sync is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it back off at any time. We will tell you, in the app, what gets synced before you enable it.

Subscriptions. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment through the App Store. We receive your subscription status so we can unlock paid features. We do not receive your card number or other payment details.

How we use your records

We use your records only to run the app: to log your day, keep your records, build compliance documents, sync across your devices if you ask, and send the reminders you turn on. We do not profile you, run ads, or use your records for anything beyond providing the features you use.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or for anyone else's marketing. This applies to everyone, and especially to information about children. We run no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Service providers

A few trusted companies help us run the app. They only handle your data to provide their service to us, and they are bound to protect it.

  • Apple distributes the app and processes subscriptions through the App Store.
  • RevenueCat helps us manage subscription status.
  • Supabase stores your records for cloud sync, but only if you turn sync on.

Children's privacy

Homeschoolio is made for parents and guardians, not for children. It is not directed to children, and it is not in the App Store's Kids Category.

You, the adult, enter information about your own child. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13, because children do not use the app or create accounts. We also do not ask for a child's date of birth. Grade level is all we keep.

If you believe a child has somehow provided us information directly, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

How long we keep data, and how to delete it

Records on your device stay until you delete them. We keep synced data only as long as you keep sync on and your account active. We do not keep your personal information longer than we need it to provide the app.

You are always in control. In the app you can delete a single record, a whole student, or your account. When you delete synced data or your account, we remove it from our systems. You can also export everything first.

Security

Records on your device are protected by your device's own security. When you use sync, your data is encrypted in transit, and access to synced records is limited to your account. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your choices

You can export your full records at any time from the app, for free. You can correct or delete records, turn sync on or off, and turn notifications on or off. To delete your account and any synced data, do it in the app or email us. We honor these choices for everyone, no matter where you live.

A note on FERPA

FERPA is a law about schools that receive federal funding. Homeschoolio is not a school and does not receive that funding, and an independent homeschooling family is not a school either. FERPA governs schools, not the records homeschooling families keep for themselves. If your child also takes part in a public school program, that school keeps its own records under its own rules.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and post the new version here. If the change is significant, we will do our best to tell you in the app.
